Padjadjaran English Competition’s first schedule 一 Opening Ceremony and Finalists Announcement 一 was held last Saturday on the 9th of October 2021. The day started off with a few welcoming words from PEC’s Project Officer, Fidely Medelyn, Chair of Gemasi, Ida Ayu Eka Vania Cahya Nita, and Chair of the English Studies Program Universitas Padjadjaran, Ari J. Adipurwawidjana. 

Afterwards, participants of all four (4) branches of competition 一 Speech, Storytelling, Poetry Reading, and Short Story Writing 一 from Senior High School and Varsity levels were distributed to different breakout rooms to receive individual feedback from their respective judges. Participants were also given opportunities to discuss and ask further questions regarding their performance from the preliminary round. Everyone discussed enthusiastically, eager to receive and give suggestions. 

The day truly lived up to its theme, embracing diversity through literature, since participants from various backgrounds gathered together to discuss their thoughts and opinions and in the process learn other people’s views. 

After the discussion session and lunch break, everyone returned to the main room for the finalist announcements. The finalists were announced by the representative judge of each competition branch. Finalists were then congratulated and were given further instructions for the final round so they could prepare. 

The next set of events will be held this week on the 16th of October 2021, with the Final Round and Awarding Session as the main agendas. We wish the best of luck to all finalists, and may they perform to the best of their abilities.
